Rev. Sylvester C. Hooks

Rev. Sylvester C. Hooks was called into the ministry in 1976. He attended Clark County Community College for two years. In 1980, he completed the United Methodist Conference Course of study. from 1976 though 1988, he was the Associate Minister of Zion United Methodist Church. In October 1988, God chose him to become a shepherd over a new church, to be called, The Great Commission Interdenominational Church.

Serving as a HOPE Chaplain at the University Medical Center, he was acknowledged and given an award for 15 years of dedicated service. He assists the organization, 100 Men Helping Boys. He is also a member of the West Las Vegas Neighborhood Executive Board and serves as President of Area Three Neighborhood Association.

Rev. Hooks live by proverbs 3: 5- 6, "Trust in Lord with all thine heart and lean not to thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him and he shall direct thy paths." Rev. Hooks' motto is "he has a charge to keep and a God to glorify!"
